About Us

Universal Church is a non-denominational and progressive Christian community of justice-seeking friends in the heart of the Gold Coast. For more information about us you can view our FAQ here.

All of us, especially those who have been rejected by a faith group (often more than one), have to make a ‘leap of faith’ from fear to hope. St Paul didn’t believe in Jesus to start with. For a long time he feared Jesus’ ideas and persecuted his disciples. He thought they had no part in God’s plan. Finally he came to faith in a blindingly huge and transforming moment on the road to Damascus [Acts 9:1-19]. Some time later, he wrote this to the new community of Christians which he had founded in Rome: “I am convinced that neither death, nor life, neither angels or demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus.”[ Romans 8: 38-39] - All of us are part of God’s love and God’s plan.

Our teachings incorporate the ancient wisdom of spiritual traditions through the ages. People of all spiritual paths are welcome in our community. We help people experience a personal relationship with the creator, provide classes, programs, prayer and meditation; and advocate a safe spiritual community of like-minded people interested in living a spiritual life. We meet at the Southport Community Centre, every Sunday at 9.30am, please check our what's on page for dates and times or alternatively you can watch our services live.

We invite all spiritual seekers to our events. These informal services are uplifting, impactful, and inspirational; we strive to deliver a message that is powerful, relevant to modern life, and applicable to your daily routine. As an expression of our commitment to Christianity, Universal Church holds to both the Apostles’ Creed and Nicene Creed as its foundational Christian beliefs.
